WHY THE TORAH IS LIKE MY PARENTS

I think the torah is a lot like my parents.

The Torah is like my parents because you must respect them the way you respect the Torah. Each Sefer Torah has a special seat in the aron just like our parents have a special seat at the Shabbos table. The Torah teaches us the way to live just like our parents do. The Torah has amazing stories that inspire us just like our parents inspire us. The Torah was brought down on two luchot and every person has two parents. The Torah has special stories about how it was given just like our parents have exciting stories from growing up. Our parents tell us rules how to act in general and the torah teaches us laws for Judaism.

My parents taught me a lot of Torah I hope yours do to. Happy Shavuot!

Torah is my Internet

To me, the Torah is like the internet. It is like the internet because the internet is a great source for getting information. If you have a question, where should you look? You look in the torah.

The torah is your guide to getting information easily. Our rabbis tell us that the torah contains anything we could imagine. On a computer, you go to a website, search for your topic, and very easily you get your answer. Every time you look through the torah, you can discover something new. Every time a new model of a computer comes out, there are cool games and tools that are on the computer. When you read a torah, you are sure to find something new! That's why we read the torah year after year over and over. Of course, it's harder to find some information with the torah, but its worth it! Getting information from the torah is much better than getting information from the internet because the torah is wisdom from Hashem, not from man. The torah sure is better than the internet!

As you can see, the internet is very much like the torah because they are both great sources of getting information. The torah is a fantastic thing and we should all appreciate it.

“Torah is Like a Computer”

The torah is like a computer to me because it is complicated. When you get a new computer, the first thing you do is read the instruction manual. But of course, very few people understand it. Only those who have been on, or used a computer before actually understand it. So those people who do not understand the manual would probably call a computer expert or the company to help them figure out what to do.

Like so, the torah is also confusing if you’ve never studied it before. You’d probably ask a rabbi for help. The rabbi would probably tell you to learn the mishna. If the mishna’s too confusing you’d learn gemara.

Both have so many interpretations and explanations that you’ll always find a way to learn.

The torah is like my parents because the torah teaches us the parsha and our parents teach stuff too. I love the torah like I love my parents. We have to respect the torah and our parents. The torah is a gift from Hashem to the Jewish people just like we are a gift from Hashem to our parents. The torah teaches us the laws to be good Jews and our parents teach us to be nice. The torah stays in the aron just like our parents live in a house. When a torah can’t be used anymore we bury it in the ground just like when a person dies.

Torah is My Life Boat

Torah is like a life boat that saves your life. Just like when you can potentially die/get into a situation, the boat/Torah saves your life. Living Torah is floating on the boat perfectly. That to me is my life! When we use the boat like Torah we always have to be thankful -- feeling like your life is dependent on it. Torah is like Hashem writing us all notes from where he watches over this crazy world. Anti-Semitism is crazy! Why should they be jealous of Torah when they can learn and feel why we are here and float on the life boat, too! That’s what we all live on. So open your hearts and feel Torah fill your soul! In other words, feel life fill your soul. Torah IS our life boat.

Torah is like a home because a home is very special and a torah is to. The Torah protects you and a home protects you. Torah gives you peace and when you go to sleep it is peaceful. The Torah has lots of different parts and a home has lots of rooms. A house has light and torah gives you light. And in a Torah there are lots of special parts and in a house you have special things. And I love the torah.
